THEY improv serves Greece with a variety of improv comedy, game shows, murder mysteries and team building activities in Athens, on the Peloponnese Peninsula, Thessaloniki, and the Greek Isles. Restaurants are an important staple for our services as we provide events in venues of different types. This page is to explain, in English, the nuances between restaurant type venues in Greece.
The Tavernas are neighborhood, family-run, traditional restaurants that serve local dishes and specialties. They can be found throughout Greece. These include Magirio (home / family style) and Koutouki (underground less-formal venues).
The Estiatórios are full service, more formal, restaurants. Better suited for larger groups, they have more services to accommodate and offer the patrons.
Psarotavernas are, simply put, seafood restaurants. Just like how a seafood restaurant is different than other restaurants, they belong to a different category.
These restaurants tend to be a little less traditional Greek and more some kind of high-end fusion ith other foods. They make great venues, are culinary adventures, while also allowing Greek flavor added to other foods.
Psitopolío / Gyrádiko / Souvlatzidiko / Mezedopoleío / Ouzerí / Tsipourádiko
There are other types of venues. These are cool places to go, but don't necessarily serve the needs of corporate events as well. They are souvlaki, gyros, tapas and bars. They tend to be loud and less-private. They're great for a party night out, just not a private party with a particular entertainment beyond the food and good company.
WE COME TO YOUR BUSINESS A lot of our clients in Greece are focused in Athens. It is a major metropolitan area and has a lot of the major companies for the country as well as serving as a transportation hub. This makes it convenient for multi-national companies having their gatherings and conferences. We serve the needs of these events and are able to bridge the gaps between people of different backgrounds to help them find their commonalities. This helps them to collaborate and find ways to enhance the mutual success while reducing wasteful activities. Of course, perfection is elusive and an illusion. We can only bring people closer to achieving that goal!

Our Director found that when people laugh, they become more open to new ideas and more likely to take lessons to heart. This made a company engaged in comedy the perfect vehicle to help everything from small organizations to members of the Fortune 500.
Most of THEY improv events are conducted in English. English tends to be the shared common language of our clients, though we may need to make some adjustments for varying cultures and backgrounds. Pop culture, for instance, might not be as shared. We will be happy to discuss your needs and adjust.
We can operate corporate events in a bilingual environment. Let us know your concerns and we will adapt our approach to address your needs in our program. We will go over rates and fees and determine the best approach.
We do have facilitators from all over the world who can operate for your group remotely or in-person in a variety of languages. Simply reach out and ask and we can work on developing options for your needs.

We work with groups that are small, medium and large throughout Greece. Whether in Athens, the suburbs, other cities, the Greek Isles, or more rural areas, we come to our clients. It never made sense to get our own facilities. Coming to a venue of your choosing allows our clients to make their own decisions about everything, customizing every event to their desires. That is why understanding the differences between the types of venues, the Estiatórios (full service restaurants), the Tavernas (smaller neighborhood restaurants), the Psarotavernas (seafood restaurants), and the Modern Greek Fusion Restaurants, is important. Please note that we just ask that there be enough light to see, enough space to move around comfortably, and it should be quiet enough to hear. Everything else, we can adjust to.
